Action Firewall, explained for beginners
Action Firewall proves, before an agent starts, whether its plan breaks a company rule, and shows the exact step.
What it is
Agents that operate computers plan several steps ahead: approve, then wire money; open a terminal, then upload a file. Checking each step separately can miss rules that are about the combination of steps.
Action Firewall takes the full plan and the company's rules and uses Z3, a mathematical solver, to prove whether the plan can break any rule. If it can, it blocks the plan before it starts and shows the exact step that breaks it (for example "step 1: $50,000 wire needs 2 different approvers, found 1"). Every verdict is signed.
An everyday comparison
An architect's structural check on the drawings, before anyone pours concrete.
How it works, in 4 steps
- The agent submits its plan: a list of steps.
- The company's rules are loaded: approval thresholds, forbidden combinations.
- Z3 proves each rule safe or finds the breaking step.
- BLOCK or PROCEED, signed, before step one runs.
