LeakGuard, explained for beginners
LeakGuard catches passwords, keys, card numbers and personal data in text before it goes to an outside AI tool.
What it is
Every day, people paste things into AI tools: logs, emails, code, customer messages. Mixed in are secrets: API keys, database passwords, card numbers, social security numbers. Once pasted, they leave the company.
LeakGuard scans the text first. It recognises common secret formats (cloud keys, AI service keys, payment keys, tokens, database addresses with passwords), card numbers (checked with the card-number checksum) and personal data. Ordinary business text, like order and invoice numbers, passes.
An everyday comparison
An airport scanner for text: it doesn't read your letter, it spots the things that shouldn't be in the bag.
How it works, in 4 steps
- Text is about to be sent to an outside AI.
- LeakGuard scans it for known secret and personal-data formats.
- Clean text passes; anything found is reported (and can be masked).
- Ordinary numbers like invoices don't false-alarm.
