Skill Memory Sandbox, explained for beginners
The Skill Memory Sandbox stops one AI skill from reading another skill's secrets.
What it is
Agents load 'skills' from marketplaces, and every skill can be a way in. If a smart-home skill could read the password-vault skill's memory, one bad skill would leak everything.
Each skill's memory is encrypted with AES-256-GCM under a key derived for that skill, thread and region. The live check runs real attacks (the attacker's own capability, a forged capability, a borrowed identity, another thread of the victim, a raw decryption) and a control read by the owner. PASS only if every attack fails and the owner can still read.
An everyday comparison
Hotel safes: every room has one, and your key opens only yours.
How it works, in 4 steps
- Each skill gets its own memory key.
- A skill tries to read another skill's memory.
- Decryption fails: refused.
- The owner can still read; a signed receipt records it.
