CAIN Epistemic Quorum Gate, explained for beginners
The Quorum Gate lets an action through only when enough different AI models agree; no agreement means no.
What it is
One model can be fooled. Asking several different models and requiring agreement makes a single fooled model much less dangerous.
You send each model's verdict (ALLOW, DENY or REQUIRE_APPROVAL). The gate checks whether the required share agree and signs the result. With no verdicts at all it denies (fail-closed).
An everyday comparison
A bank vault that needs two of three managers' keys.
How it works, in 4 steps
- Several models judge the action.
- Their verdicts are sent to the gate.
- Enough agreement: ALLOW. Otherwise: DENY.
- The result is signed.
